Long-Term Care (LTC) Ombudsman programs are federally mandated, state-operated, free, and confidential services that protect the health, safety, and rights of seniors in nursing homes, assisted living, and board-and-care facilities. They investigate complaints, resolve conflicts, and advocate for improvements in quality of care.
How to Find Local Assistance:
National Resource Center: Visit the National Long-Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center website for state-specific contact information.
State Agencies: Each state has a designated office, often within the Department of Elder Affairs (e.g., in Florida, it is managed by the Department of Elder Affairs).
The National Center on Elder Abuse: www.ncea.aoa.gov
